When can I pre-load GTA 6?

Take-Two: players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026, so they can play at launch on November 19.

The physical edition is a download code in a box, also available from November 12, specifically “to support pre-loading.” Redeem the code, then download. Owning the cardboard does not skip the wait.

Pre-load is not play. The campaign remains locked until November 19. Day-one patches, if any, usually land on top of a pre-load in the last hours. Leave the console on rest mode if your connection is fragile.

File size is tracked separately because storefront numbers still move. Use the storage calculator on /tools and budget headroom above whatever number is currently printed.

If you buy digital on November 18, you may still be downloading while your neighbor is already in Vice. Pre-load week exists for a reason. Use it.
